Anti Microsomal Antibody (Anti Thyroperoxidase Antibody-Anti TPO) is a blood test used to detect antibodies directed against thyroid peroxidase, an enzyme found in thyroid cells. Thyroid peroxidase plays an important role in the production of thyroid hormones. These antibodies were historically called thyroid microsomal antibodies and are now commonly known as anti-TPO antibodies.

Elevated anti-TPO antibodies may indicate that the immune system is reacting against the thyroid gland.
