About this test
A 3D CT CHEST is an advanced diagnostic imaging examination that uses computed tomography to produce detailed cross-sectional pictures of the chest. Specialized computer software may reconstruct these images into three-dimensional views, allowing the radiologist and referring doctor to examine the lungs, airways, chest wall, ribs, mediastinum, major blood vessels and other thoracic structures from multiple angles. The examination can reveal abnormalities that may not be clearly visible on a conventional chest X-ray. Depending on the clinical question, the scan may be performed with or without intravenous contrast material. The exact protocol is selected by the radiologist or referring physician according to the patient's symptoms, medical history and the structures that need assessment.

Preparation Before Test

If contrast is planned, fasting for several hours may be requested.
