TMT (Treadmill Test), also known as a cardiac stress test, evaluates how well your heart works during physical activity. It monitors heart rate, blood pressure, and ECG changes while you walk on a treadmill.

A TMT test is done to detect coronary artery disease, assess chest pain, evaluate irregular heart rhythms, and determine how well the heart handles physical stress.

Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Avoid heavy meals, caffeine, and smoking for a few hours before the test. Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking.

Light meals are usually allowed, but heavy meals should be avoided before the test. Follow your doctor’s specific instructions regarding food and medications.

Yes, TMT is generally safe when performed under medical supervision. The test is carefully monitored, and medical staff are present to manage any rare complications.

During the test, electrodes are attached to your chest to monitor ECG. You will walk on a treadmill with gradually increasing speed and incline while your heart activity, blood pressure, and symptoms are monitored.

The test itself is not painful, but you may feel tired or short of breath due to physical exertion. The test can be stopped at any time if you feel discomfort.

The active exercise portion usually lasts 10 to 15 minutes, but the entire procedure including preparation and recovery may take around 30 to 45 minutes.

Preliminary results may be discussed immediately after the test, while the final report is typically available the same day or shortly thereafter.

Patients with recent heart attacks, severe heart conditions, uncontrolled blood pressure, or serious mobility issues may not be suitable for TMT. A doctor will assess your fitness before recommending the test.
