About this test
HbA1c, also known as glycated hemoglobin or Hemoglobin A1c, is a blood test used to estimate average blood glucose levels over approximately the previous two to three months. It measures the percentage of hemoglobin in red blood cells that has glucose attached to it.
Unlike a single blood glucose measurement, which reflects the glucose level at the time of sample collection, HbA1c provides a longer-term view of blood glucose control.
